Британският музикант Елтън Джон обяви, че смята Иисус Христос за хомосексуалист, съобщи The Daily Mail.

Провокативното си мнение певецът обявил, докато говорил за проблемите на гейовете в Близкия изток.

Звездата давал интервю за американското списание Parade, което ще публикува откровенията му на 21 февруари.

“Мисля, че Иисус е бил състрадателен, свръхчувствителен гей, разбиращ човешките проблеми. Докато е бил на кръста, той е простил на всички разпнали го хора. Иисус иска хората да си прощават.

Не знам защо хората са толкова жестоки един с друг. Ако се опитате да сте гей в Близкия изток, считайте се за труп", казва Джон за изданието.

Пред Parade изпълнителят разказва за своите отношения с мъжете и за употребата на наркотици.

'Jesus was a gay man': Sir Elton's comments are sure to cause waves in the U.S.

Sir Elton John has dubbed Jesus a 'super-intelligent gay man' in a controversial new interview.

The singer made the throw-away comment while talking about lesbians trying to survive in the Middle East.

'I think Jesus was a compassionate, super-intelligent gay man who understood human problems,' he told American magazine Parade in an interview due to be published on Sunday.

'On the cross, he forgave the people who crucified him. Jesus wanted us to be loving and forgiving.

'I don’t know what makes people so cruel. Try being a gay woman in the Middle East – you’re as good as dead.'

His comments are set to cause a firestorm in the U.S., where deeply religious groups burned Beatles records in 1966 after John Lennon claimed the group was more popular than Jesus.

Sir Elton’s claim came in the middle of an interview about his own drug-taking past and messy relationships with men.

'Just about every relationship I ever had was involved with drugs. It never works,' he said. 'But I longed to be with someone good or bad, otherwise I didn’t feel fulfilled. I’d lost the plot.'

Until meeting filmmaker David Furnish, who he married in 2005, 62-year-old Sir Elton claims he always picked toy boys without jobs.

'I'd always choose someone younger. I wanted to smother them with love,' he said. 'I'd take them around the world, try to educate them.

'One after another they got a Cartier watch, a Versace outfit, maybe a sports car. They didn't have jobs. They were reliant on me. I did this repeatedly.

'In six months they were bored and hated my guts because I'd taken their lives and self-worth away. I hadn't intended to.'

The Beatles received death threats and Lennon was forced to apologise after an American teenage magazine reprinted comments he made about Jesus to the London Evening Standard.

In Sir Elton’s Parade interview he talks about Lennon’s 1980 death, along with those of Princess Diana, designer Gianni Versace and Michael Jackson.

'Two of them shot outside their houses. None of this would have happened if they hadn’t been famous. Fame attracts lunatics,' he said.

'I never had a bodyguard ever until Gianni died. I don’t like celebrity anymore.'
